A hub for experimental, contemporary art, MoMA PS1 is a museum you should visit for a unique experience. Instead of collecting art, they feature exhibits that are constantly rotating and changing based on trends, ideas, and more.
If you want to see modern art that’s of-the-moment, this is the place to go.
Visit the Museum of Modern Art to See Cutting-Edge Exhibits
Now an extension of MoMA, the PS1 Contemporary Art Center was founded in 1971 and is one of the largest institutions of its kind in the U.S.
Visit this museum weekdays Monday, Thursday and Friday and on weekends, both Saturday and Sunday. They are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Here’s what you can expect to see while you’re there.
Because the museum is all about exhibitions, you’ll never see the same thing twice. A few you can view during the coming 2017 fall season include Maureen Gallace’s genre paintings through September 10, a documentary film from Stanya Kahn (Stand in the Stream) through September 4, and sculptural scenes from Cathy Wilkes starting October 22.
The museum hosts fun programs for any age.
One is Warm-Up, a summer music concert series. Lasting through September 2, 2017. It features a wide array of artists and genres who play on an outdoor stage.
They also host the Young Architects Program, which focuses on boosting young and emerging talent in the field. Each year, a design contest determines who will get the opportunity to develop an outdoor installation at the museum.
There’s plenty more to see at MoMA PS1. Plan on staying with us at the Courtyard LaGuardia Airport Hotel if the Museum of Modern Art is high on your itinerary during your next visit to NYC.
