An unforgettable experience that celebrates ancient to modern Chinese culture and tradition, Shen Yun is a show you shouldn’t miss. From the costumes to the dances, music, and sets, you’ll be transported to the majesty of China.
The show will take place at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from January 11-21, 2018.
History of the Show
A show like this can’t be found anywhere else, even in China.
Why? Because the Chinese Communist Party sees demonstrations and celebrations of traditional culture as a threat to its power.
That’s why, in 2006, the show was created by Chinese artists in New York – as a way to revive and revel in these beautiful traditions before they’re forgotten.
Shen Yun - Performance Information and Format
The show lasts around 2 hours and includes 15 dances with a live orchestra, elaborate costumes, and detailed, animated sets as the backdrop.
You’ll be taken to various times and places in Chinese history, and explore settings and characters from Chinese mythology.
