This free event will run from Madison Street to Madison Avenue on Saturday, February 10th, starting at 11 a.m. Cultural performers, including Lion Dance troupes, will entertain in the streets. Visitors are encouraged to bring their dogs to help welcome the Year of the Dog.
Chinese New Year Firecracker Ceremony and Festival
Head to Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Friday, February 16th, to join this free festival, where hundreds of thousands of firecrackers will be set off to discourage evil spirits. Wander through various vendor booths, taste traditional Chinese food, and purchase handmade crafts. Finally, check out the lion dances and festive decorations.
Temple Bazaar at Flushing Town Hall
Flushing Town Hall in Queens will host a traditional bazaar festival for the new year on Saturday and Sunday, February 10th-11th. Here, you can check out music, dancing, and martial arts demonstrations, learn how to do calligraphy and paper-cutting, and eat some delicious foods from China’s major regions.
